Thattai

Very tasty,traditional and popular teatime snack of Tamil Nadu.Made with rice flour and very easy to do.This serves 4 nos and U can get atleast 10 thattais with this measurement given.Try at home and enjoy!.BonAppetit!.

Thattai- Spicy Rice flour Snack


Ingredients

    1 Cup rice flour- dry roasted little
    2 tsp gram dhal- soaked for 15 mins
    1/2 tsp red chilli powder
    2 tsp ghee
    1/4 tsp asafoetida
    1/2 tsp cumin seeds
    2 tsp white sesame seeds
    1/4 tsp salt
    250 ml refined oil for deep-frying

Directions

    1.Mix all the ingredients except refined oil and knead this mixture for 10 mins into a fine dough.
    2.Shape this dough into lemon sized balls.
    3.Take a polythene paper,put one ball and cover with another polythene paper and spread the dough to a small round shaped puri-like Thattais with hand.
    4.Deep fry these thattais in oil till golden brown and crisp on both sides.
    5.Serve this Thattai hot as a tea-time snack.(Can store them for weeks in an airtight container).
