It is the easiest Payasam u can ever do and an ideal milk desert for unexpected guests cause u 7-8 mins only. Make sure that the rice flakes should not be overcooked. Grated almonds or pista (soaked-but an optional)- 2 tbsp can also be added in step:3 to add richness to the taste.Bon Appetit!.
Aval (Rice Flakes) Payasam - Sweet Milk desert done with Rice Flakes
Ingredients
2 cup Rice Flakes - poha or white Aval
250ml low fat milk
2 tbsp condensed milk -optional
5 tbsp or 50 gm sugar
2 tbsp crushed cashewnuts and raisins
1 tbsp ghee
1 tsp vanilla essence
2 tbsp grated almonds- soaked(optional)
1 tbsp crushed pista
200ml water
Directions
1.Soak rice flakes in water and immediately drain the water.Do this 2 more times and keep this aside.
2.Heat ghee and roast crushed cashewnuts and raisins.Take this out and keep it aside.
3.Saute rice flakes in the remaining ghee and add milk,condensed milk,sugar,vanilla essence and the roasted
cashewnuts and raisins one by one.Stir continuously for 5 to 7 mins in good flame.
4.Add grated almonds-soaked and crushed pista after adding milk.
4.Turn off the flame after 7 mins.
5.Serve this hot to the unexpected guests or chilled to the expected guests.
