Pomegranate Curd Rice

Whenever we do Curd Rice at home,we need to bother about the side dish that will go with Curd Rice besides Pickle varieties.No worries.Try this Curd Rice for example.U can have it with Pomegranate and this tastes so good that u don't even think of pickle. U can add seedless grapes or even chopped cucumber - for variation.

Pomegranate Curd Rice


1 3/4 cup raw rice
1 pomegranate seeds - peeled and shredded
5 cups water
400 gm Plain Yoghurt-Low Fat
few curry leaves
few coriander leaves
2 green chillies(chopped)
2 tsp gram dhal(kadalai paruppu)
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 1/4 tsp salt - to taste
2 tsp refined oil
50 ml fresh milk


1.Pressure cook rice with 5 cups water upto 6 whistle.Turn off the flame.
2.After 10 mins time,open the Pressure cooker and add salt and Plain Yoghurt, fresh-done milk and mix well.
3.Heat oil in a kadai and add oil,mustard seeds,curry leaves,gram dhal,coriander leaves and chopped green
chillies.Saute this for 2 mins and add this to the Curd rice.Mix well.
4.Finally add 2 cups pomegranate seeds and mix well.That's all.

1.If u add 50 ml done fresh milk then u can have this rice even after 3 hours.
2.Green chillies instead of red chillies should be used for tadka if u try this recipe with Cucumber.For

fruity Curd Rice ,Green Chillies must be added in the seasoning
