Lentil Bran Rice(Paruppu BranRice)

Bran is particularly rich in dietary fiber and essential fatty acids and contains significant quantities of starch, protein, vitamins and dietary minerals.Try this fast and simple to make Dal-BranRice (done with Bran Rice)  and sit and watch ur family enjoy this finger-licking healthy BranRice treat anytime.U need to spend 15 minsin the kitchen to try this rice and this serves 3-4 nos.U can replace mungdal with Turdal(soaked for an hour) and Chilli Powder by 1 tsp Sambar powder and try Sambar Bran Rice with an additional 3-4 mins Cooking-time.Try this at home and Enjoy ur Meal!.Bon Appetit!.

Dal Bran Rice(Paruppu Bran Rice) - Bran Rice done with dal and vegetables

Ingredients

70 gm  split yellow Moongdal - soaked for 1/2 an hour
150 gms  Bran Rice
1 cup carrots and french beans(cut into small pieces)
3 no.s green chillies (slit lengthwise)
1/5 tsp turmeric powder
3/4 tsp salt (to taste)
1 big onion(chopped)
2 medium sized tomatoes(chopped)
1/5 tsp asafoetida powder
2 tbsp grated coconut-optional
water x 2  1/2 times the quantity of quantity of Bran Rice + x 1 1/2  times the quantity of mungdal
1 tsp refined oil + 2 tsp ghee
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp chopped curry leaves
1 tbsp(1 tsp +1 tsp+1 tsp) chopped coriander leaves
1/5 tsp chilli powder


Directions

1.Take a pressure pan and add the finely chopped vegs,asafoetida powder,moongdal,bran rice and water and allow it to pressure-cook upto 4 whistle in a pressure pan.Turn off the flame.wait for the pressure to be released.
2.Heat oil in a kadai. Add mustard seeds,chopped onions,chopped tomatoes,1 tsp chopped coriander and curry leaves, green chillies,chilli powder,turmeric powder and saute well for 2-3 mins and keep this aside.
3.Add this seasoning,chopped coriander leaves and salt to step 1 pressure-pan Veg-dal-rice mixture and cover the pressure pan  with a lid and cook for one or two more mins till it become little dry.Turn off the flame.
4.Remove from the fire and sprinkle a dash of ghee,add grated coconut and chopped coriander leaves and mix well.
5.Serve this Sambar BranRice alone or with Bittergourd Thokku/Pickle or Fresh Coriander Thokku or Mango/Ginger Pickle and papadam.U will LUV it!.
