'Paal Kozhukattai' or 'Kozhukattai Paal Payasam' is a Delicious Dessert done with Coconut Milk traditionally in Tamil Nadu and Kerala.This recipe is given by my friend Linora John.U can call it an easy and ideal replacement or a quick recipe otherwise. U can try this recipe with 1 cup (200ml ) first coconutmilk and 300 ml second coconutmilk or with 4 tbsp coconut milk powder dissolved in 120 ml lukewarm water + needed water.The taste of this Dumpling Dessert never get diminished in this preparation. Needs 15-16 mins cooking time and serves 7-8 nos.U can do 50 + small dumplings with this and try half the size of shown kozhukattai which fits and fills the Dessert.Try this recipe at home and enjoy this Paal Kozhukattai or Kozhukattai Paal Payasam. Paal Kozhukattai (Kozhukattai Paal Payasam) - Milky Dessert done with Riceflour Dumplings
Ingredients:
3/4th Cup of or 100 gms Idiyappam Rice Flour
300 + 100 ml lowfat milk
125 gms - sugar
3-5 crushed cardamom
1 tbsp grated coconut
2 tsp coconutmilk powder(optional)
300 ml water
a pinch of salt(optional)
2 tsp coconut milk + 1 tsp ghee
Directions:
1.Boil the lowfat milk.Keep this aside.
2.Heat 100 ml + 150 ml water a sauce pan or kadai,when it boils stir-in the Idiyappam flour little by little and add a pinch of salt(If salt has not been added in the Idiyappam flour already) make sure that no lump should form.
3.Keep on stirring it for 8-10 mins on medium flame till it gets thickened like a kneaded dough.Turn off the flame and allow it to cool.Keep it covered.Make small round shaped balls(U can add 1-2 tsp coconut oil mixed with 1 tsp ghee while shaping the dumplings) and keep it aside.
4.Heat 300 ml lowfat milk with 150 ml water with sugar,2 tsp coconutmilk powder(optional) and crushed cardamom. Stir-cook it till the sugar gets dissolved.
5.Reduce the flame to low and add the dumplings with grated coconut.Mix it smoothly for 2-3 mins and Turn off the flame before it begins to boil.The Dessert will get thick in this process.
6.Serve it warm or chilled and garnished with grated coconut,saffron strands or almond flakes.

Payasams are my favourite! Especially my mom's preparation. This one reminds me of normal pal payasam but never had this kind. This one is a variety..should try it :)
