This tasty sweet is popular in TamilNadu - can be done in 20 mins.Try this recipe with dates, sugar, grated

Susiyam - Maida flour coated gramdhal stuffed sweet of Tamil Nadu

1 cup maida
1 cup split gramdhal - soaked for atleast 40 mins
1 tsp cardamom powder
3/4 cup grated coconut
3/4 cup jaggery-crushed
1 tbsp sugar
2 tsp ghee
3/4 tsp salt
150 ml refined oil for frying
3/4 + 2 cups water

1.Take a pressure pan,add the split gramdal,2 cups water and 1/4 tsp salt.Pressure cook this upto 4 whistles. Turn off the flame.Wait for the pressure to be released.
2.Open the lid and mash the cooked dhal, add the crushed jaggery, cardamom powder, grated coconut,1 tbsp sugar,2 tsp ghee and mix well.If this stuffing is watery, turn on the flame and saute this till it runs dry.
3.Shape this gramdhal stuffing into gooseberry sized balls.
4.Take a bowl.Add 1 cup maida, little more than 1/2 a cup water and 1/2 tsp salt.Mix this well so that no lump should form.
5.Heat refined oil in a kadai, dip the gramdhal balls in maida flour (roll or rotate it inside the flour-so that it gets fully coated with maida flour) and deep-fry this in oil till this turns golden brown on both sides.
