Raw Mango-Dal Pachadi

One of the popular pachadi preparations of my home-town.Can be done in 20 mins.This can also be done with chopped bhindhi added alongwith dal and mango.Try this at home and enjoy!.

Raw Mango-Dal Pachadi - Pachadi done with Raw mango pieces,Toordal and spices

Ingredients :

2 Raw Mangoes - washed well,peeled slightly and cut into 1 cm pieces
4 tbsp grated coconut
3 tbsp Toordal- pressure cooked upto 6 whistles
6 no.s ladies-fingers(optional) - washed,wiped dry and chopped fine
1 tbsp jaggery - crushed
1 green chilli - chopped fine
1 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp split uraddal-skinless
2 whole red chillies
1/4 tsp turmeric powder
3/4 tsp chilli powder
2 tbsp shallots(red onions)-chopped fine(optional)
few curry leaves
few coriander leaves
1 1/2 tsp salt-to taste
2 tsp refined oil
500ml water


    1.Heat oil in a kadai and add mustard seeds,uraddal, chopped onions(optional),Whole red chillies and curry leaves,one-by-one,and saute for 2-3mins.
    2.Add mango pieces,chilli powder,turmeric powder,coriander leaves,salt and water.Let it cook till the mango pieces become tender(for 10-12 mins).
    3.Add the green chilli,grated coconut,cooked toordal and the crushed jaggery.Let it simmer for 5 mins on low flame.
    4.Serve this tasty mango-dal pachadi hot with rice or indian breads.

Note:U can add oil-sauted chopped ladies fingers,along with mango pieces in step2.
