Raisins Chutney

Raisins are dried grapes.The health benefits of raisins include relief from constipation,anemia and helps in weight gain.Basically Indians use Raisins or kismis to season or garnish the deserts and sweets.Actually U can do great recipes with it - like Jam,Pickle,Chutney,etc. This is an easy to do recipe.This sweet and tangy Raisins chutney goes very well with Idli, Dosa, chapatis,bread etc. Kids will love it.Try this at home and post ur feedbacks.

Raisin Chutney - Tangy chutney made with Raisins

Ingredients:
    50 gms raisins(one handful)
    4 whole red chillies
    gooseberry size tamarind
    very little ginger(1 cm size)-peeled
    2 tbsp grated coconut
    1/2 tsp mustard seeds
    1/2 tsp split urad dhal
    2 tsp chopped sambar onions
    few curry leaves
    1 tbsp refined oil
    1 tsp salt or needed

Directions
    1.Heat 1 tsp oil in a kadai and saute the raisins for 20 secs only.
    2.Allow it to cool.Grind this with 2 red chillies,tamarind,ginger,salt and grated coconut to a fine paste with little water(1/2 cup).
    3.Heat the remaining 2 tsp oil in the same kadai and saute mustard seeds,split urad dhal,chopped sambar onions,the remaining 2 red chillies and curry leaves.
    4.Add this seasoning to the ground raisins chutney.
    5.Serve this sweet and tangy Raisins chutney with Idli,Dosa,chapathis,bread etc. Kids will love it.
