Pathaneer Aappam

Pathaneer(fresh extract tapped from the palm-tree sap) has rich nutritive value (Calcium) which is good for growing kids. The pathaneer should be fresh.It should not get fermented.This Pathaneer Appams should be done in 2 hours time,after preparing the appam batter adding pathaneer only(without adding water).Those who don't want to add pathaneer can do this Aappam with Coconut milk.

Pathaneer Aappam - Aappam done with Aappam batter prepared using Pathaneer


Ingredients

    400 ml Pathaneer - fresh
    1/2 cup raw-rice - soaked for 2 hours in water
    1/4 cup boiled-rice- soaked for 2 hours in water
    1/4 cup split Urad dhal-skinless(soaked for 2 hours in water)
    1 tbsp fenugreek seeds - soaked with rice
    1 cup grated coconut
    3/4 tsp salt-to taste
    3 yeast corns(dry)
    3 tbsp refined-oil(for greasing Appa-Kadai)
    2 tsp ghee

Directions

    1.Mix raw-rice,boiled-rice ,split urad dhal and fenugreek seeds and clean well with water and then soak this together in 1 1/2 litre water for at least 90 mins.
    2.Drain the water and grind them (the soaked rices and urad dhal) adding pathaneer (little by little) and grated coconut for 20 mins at least in a Grinder (for the Appam batter). Don't add water.
    3.Gather the ground Appam batter in a bowl and add salt and yeast and mix well.Leave it to ferment for
an hour and do Appams in Appa-kadai - greasing the kadai with ghee-refined oil mix ,spread the Appam
batter, then cover with a lid till done and serve this).
    4.Serve this Sweet Aappam with 2 cups fresh coconut milk and 3 tbsp sugar.

Tips:
U can even use Low Fat Boiled Milk with Sugar to accompany this Aappam if U cannot serve this with  Coconut Milk and Sugar.
