This Chutney is prepared using pepper and green chillies.Red chillies r not added.Very tasty chutney to go with Idli, Dosa,Chapati,evening Indian snacks,etc.Try it once.U will see ur family asking for it more.Try this at home and enjoy!. Bon Appetit!.
Tomato - Onion Chutney( a Microwave Recipe)-Chutney done with Tomato,small onion and grated coconut
Ingredients:
15 sambar onions or 2 big onions-cut into bite size pieces
2 big tomatoes-sliced
2 small green chillies
2 tsp urad dal-split
1 big garlic clove
1 tsp lemon juice
4-5 pepper corns
1 tsp salt-to taste
4 tbsp grated coconut
2 tsp + 2 tsp refined oil
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
1 tsp gram dal(split)
1/2 tsp split uraddal
few curry leaves
300 ml water
Directions
1.Take a microwave bowl and add 2 tsp oil,onion pieces,2 tsp split uraddal and tomato slices.Mix this well and M/W this On High for 2 mins.Take the bowl out.
2.In another bowl,add 2 tsp oil with 1/2 tsp mustard seeds,1 tsp gram dal(split),1/2 tsp split uraddal and few curry leaves.Microwave this in high for 2 mins.Take the bowl out.
3.Meanwhile,Grind the oil-sauteed onion + tomato slices with salt,pepper corns,2 small green chillies,garlic clove and grated coconut into a fine paste adding 200ml water.
4.Add the lemon juice and the Step 2 seasonings to this chutney and mix this well..
5.Serve this tomato-onion chutney with Idli,dosa,chapati, etc,.
