Bread Puttu with Kadalai Curry

Its an easy to make Puttu done using Bread or left-over Bread or Brown Bread.If U r using left over bread slices,then sprinkle 2 tbsp warm water over it and shredd the pieces - after removing the edges. Serve it hot with Green Mungdal or Black Chickpeas Kadalai Curry. U can use coconutmilk powder or fresh coconut milk or 1 tbsp coconut paste in Step 5.This can serve an Easy South-Indian Breakfast/Dinner in 20 -25 mins Cooking-time for 2-3 nos. Bread Puttu with Kadalai Curry
Ingredients for Bread Puttu:
10 Fresh or left over Bread slice
2 tbsp +2 tbsp grated coconut
2 tbsp warm water
Ingredients For Kadalai Curry:
1 cup soaked black chickpeas or green Mungdal - soaked for 2 hour and pressure-cooked with 1/4 tsp salt upto 2 whistles
3/4 tsp chilli powder
1/2 tsp coriander powder
1/4 tsp jeera powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 onion - chopped fine
1 tomato - chopped fine
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
few coriander and curry leaves
2 tsp coconutmilk powder dissolved in 1/2 cup warm water or U can add 4-5 tsp low fat boiled milk
1/2 tsp salt or needed
2 tsp refined oil
Directions:
For Making Bread Puttu:
1.Shredd the Bread slices fine after removing the edges (for left over bread slices,then sprinkle 2 tbsp warm water,) then add 2 tbsp grated coconut and a pinch of salt and shredd the slices.Keep it aside.
2.Clean the Puttu Kudam or maker.Place the holes-having lid at the Puttu Kuzhal(top) end and begin to Stuff this bread layer upto 2 inches length and then layer with 1 tbsp grated coconut,again stuff this shredded bread layer upto 2 inches,again use 1 tbsb grated coconut layer and stuff the remaining bread .Close the top-end with the lid.
3.Steam cook for 8-10 mins on medium flame.Turn of the flame.Leave it for 15 mins to do kadalai Curry.
4.Take the Puttu Kuzhal and remove the top lid and place it on a tray.Push it from the Bottom-end lid using a spoon over the tray.
5.Serve it hot with Kadalai Curry.
For Making Kadalai Curry:
1.Heat oil in a kadai,splutter 1/2 tsp mustard seeds, chopped onions and curry leaves for 2 mins.
2.Add Choppped tomato and salt.Wait for 2 mins till tomato begins to melt.
3.Add all the 4 spices powder and stir-cook for 2-3 mins.
4.Now,add the pressure-cooked black chickpeas or green Mungdal and 50 ml water,mix and simmer it for 5 mins - keeping it covered.
5.Add the dissolved coconutmilk powder or 4 tsp boiled milk, stir it for a min and check for salt.
6.Garnish with chopped coriander leaves and serve it hot with Bread Puttu.
