Chicken-Lentil Biryani

 Dalcha(Lentil Mutton Gravy) preparation is famous in Andhra Pradesh,India.Fans of Dalcha can try this Dal Biryani with minced Mutton or Chicken.I've tried this recipe with chicken(instead of Minced Mutton(keema) ) and it turned out well.U can try some Veg. Combo Dal Biryani like Mushroom Lentil Biryani,Cauliflower, Green peas or Palak dal Biryani. Basmati rice cooked with minced mutton,soya granules,couscous,scrambled egg,grated paneer,lentil and spices to a fine perfection.Can try the same with Lentil-poha,lentil rice noodles and noodles etc for  variations.A tasty biryani to try at home.Enjoy ur  Meal!. BonAppetit!.

Chicken-Lentil Biryani -  Minced Chicken  cooked with lentil,rice and spices



Ingredients

400 gms Minced Chicken - minced mutton
1 1/2 cups basmati rice - washed and ghee-roasted
1/2 cup masoor dhal - red colour lentil like toor dhal
2 medium sized onions - cut finely
2 tomatoes - cut finely
ground spices of (4 pepper corns,1 cinnamon stick,1 clove,2 cardamoms)
2 bay leaves - crushed
3 green chillies - slit lengthwise
1 1/2 tsp ginger-garlic paste
a pinch of turmeric powder
1 tsp any good south-indian biryani powder
1 tbsp thick coconut fine paste with poppy seeds and 3 cashewnuts
1/4 tsp kewra essence
1 tsp salt
1 tbsp ghee
2 tsp refined oil
few coriander leaves
1 tbsp grated carrot or red carrot

for garnishing:
2 boiled eggs-shelled and cut into halves
few chopped coriander leaves
fried onion slices

Directions

1.Heat oil in a pressure pan,add bay leaves,ground spices,chopped onions,chopped tomatoes and ginger-garlic paste for 4- 5 mins.
2.Add Minced Chicken,masoor dal,turmeric powder,biryani powder,yellow colour-optional and 1/2 tsp salt.Mix well and saute this for 5 mins.
3.Add 2 1/2 cups water and coconut paste and cover and pressure-cook for 10 mins or upto 4 whistles.Turn off the flame and open the lid after the pressure is released.
4.Add ghee-roasted basmati rice,few drops kewra essence,green chillies,few coriander leaves,1 tbsp ghee,1/4 tsp salt,grated carrot,1 1/4 cup water and Cover and pressure cook upto 1 whistle and wait for the pressure to be released.
5.Mix well and serve this hot (garnished with boiled egg-slices,fried onions and chopped coriander leaves).

The addition of lentils makes it a very different kind of biriyani. Should try out some time.
