Sweet-Potato stuffed Pozhi

A sweet Pozhi done with boiled sweet potato stuffing.This is one kind of Pozhi as an easy evening snack to try at home.U can try this dish with different stuffings eg.,boiled and mashed Gramdal with grated coconut and jaggery or grated coconut with sugar or split besandal with grated coconut and sugar or dates with grated coconut and sugar,chopped cherries with tutti fruity,boiled and mashed yelow moongdal with grated coconut and sugar etc.

Sweet-Potato stuffed Pozhi - Sweet Potato stuffed Poori


    2 cups wheat flour
    1 tbsp ghee
    1/4 tsp salt
    1 sweet potato-boiled,peeled and mashed
    1/2 cup grated coconut
    3-4 tbsp crushed Jaggery or sugar
    1 tsp cardamom powder
    1/2 cup refined oil + 1 tbsp ghee for shallow-frying


    1.Mix mashed sweet potato,Jaggery,grated coconut and cardamom powder well and keep aside.
    2.To prepare poories,Mix together wheat flour,ghee and salt with enough water to make a stiff ,soft dough. Keep aside for 15 mins.
    3.Divide the dough into lemon-size balls. Roll it out into small poories.
    4.Spread 2 spoonful of the filling over one poori and cover it with another same size poori.Seal the edges together by pinching it.
    5.Heat oil in a tawa and shallow-fry till golden brown on bothsides.
    6.Serve this tasty sweet potato-stuffed pozhi hot at teatime.
U can try Kozhukattai,Badhusha,Susiyam,Pozhi and Stuffed Paniyaram also (besides Somasi) with this sweet
Potatao and the other stuffings stated above in this recipe.
