Cabbage Parupu Thoran

An Easy Recipe of a delightful mish-mash of Cabbage and Dhal.This ia a Traditional South - Indian (popular
in Tamilnadu and Kerala)Preparation - a variation from the North Indian preparation.Goes well with Mutton
Curry and Plain rice or Sambar and rasam.Try this recipe at home and enjoy.Bon Appetit!.

Cabbage Parupu Thoran - a Traditional South - Indian Preparation

Ingredients:

Cabbage - 2 cups (finely chopped)
Moong Dhal(split) - 1/2 cup(cook for 1 whistle in a pressure cooker with 250ml water - with the left over
water)
ginger juliens - 1/4 tsp
green chillies - 3 no.s finely chopped
turmeric powder - a pinch
cocunut (grated) - 2 tbsp
pure coconut oil - 1 tsp
refined oil - 2 tsp
salt - 3/4 tsp - to taste
mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
urad dal - 1/2 tsp
gramdhal - kadalai paruppu - 1 tbsp-optional
curry leaves - 1 tsp
chopped coriander leaves - 1 tsp
water - 150 ml
crushed cashews - 2 tsp(fried in ghee)-optional

Directions:

1.Heat cocunut oil + refined oil in a kadai. put mustard seeds, urad dhal,gramdhal, cumin seeds,curry leaves & chopped coriander leaves and saute this for a min .
2.Add cabbage and green chillies, salt, turmeric powder and water.Bring it to boil.cook till done.
3.Add cooked dhal and grated cocunut.
4.You can also add few crushed cashews fried in ghee to add richness to the Cabbage Parupu Thoran.
5.Serve hot with Rice and Sambar.
