Verkadalai(Peanut) Halwa.

This is one of the tastiest and easiest Halwa preparation. Needs 15 - 18 mins cooking time alone.Will look colourful as shown in the picture.U can start a feast or end a filling Dinner serving this Halwa.Give this Halwa recipe a tasty-try at home and Enjoy ur Teatime!.BonAppetit!.

Verkadalai Halwa -Halwa made with Peanuts and Cornflour.


Ingredients:

200 gms Peanuts (Verkadalai)- Dry roast it on good flame for over 3 mins(stirring continuously) and peel the skins - crushing them with hands
1/2 cup corn flour
250 -300 gms Sugar - as per taste
a pinch of Food (red or Orange) colour
60 gm ghee
a drop of vanilla essence -optional

Directions:

1.Dry-roast cornflour for a min.Take a handful of roasted and peeled Verkadalai  and Keep it aside.Grind the remaining with corn flour and sugar.
2.Heat 300 ml water in a kadai and when it begins to boil add the ground peanut mixture,little by little,keep on stirring it.
3.When it get neatly dissolved without any lumps,add the kept away peanut,Food colour and flavoring agent.Stir it well.
4.When it begins to get thick, add 1 tbsp ghee each min and stir-it well.Repeat it for 10 mins atleast.
5.When it begins to roll (surula varum pothu) with ghee when U scoop with spatula,turn off the flame.
6.Arrange it on a ghee-greased tray and apply ghee on top .
7.Cut into pieces and serve it in an hour.That's all.

A humble suggestion. Let that pinch of red colour be food colour, that too in minimal quantity.
