Mutton Tawa Shaslik

Shashlyk or Shashlik  means skewed meat like Shish Kebab and is popular in the former Soviet Union, parts of Eastern Europe and Israel. Shashlyk is  a Kebab which is originally done with lamb either skewing all meat or alternate pieces of meat and vegetables such as bell pepper,onion and tomato.Marinade for shashlik contains vinegar,dry wine or sour fruit/vegetable juice with the addition of herbs and spices. Shashlyk is usually cooked on a grill or unusually done in Tawa.Try this Mutton Shaslik at home and Enjoy Ur Meal!. BonAppetit!

Mutton Tawa Shaslik
Ingredients:
250 gms Boneless Mutton - cleaned well
1 tsp kashmiri red chilli powder
a pinch of  dried fenugreek powder(optional)
1 tsp garam masala
1/2 tsp any good chaat masala
1/2 tsp white pepper powder
1 tsp pineapple juice or orange juice(optional)
1/2 tsp lemon juice or vineger
2 tsp - 4 tsp oil
1/4 tsp salt
Directions:
1.Mix together red chilli powder,dried fenugreek powder,Pineapple or orange juice,garam masala powder, chaat masala, vinegar or lemon juice. Apply it on the mutton pieces and marinate  for abt 40 mins.
2.Thread the mutton pieces on 2 -3 skewers.Pour the left over marinade over them.
3.Heat oil in a Tawa and shallowfry till done for abt 5 mins  and then roll the skewer to the other side and do for 5 mins. Similarly 5-8 mins till it gets done on the other two sides.
4.Serve it hot with Veg Salad,lemon wedges and green chutney.

Tips:
To do it using Grill:
1.Preheat the Oven 200 Degree C in Grill Mode. Brush 1 tsp oil on the pieces and Grill it for 20 mins
on 180 Degree C .
2.Turn the skewer so that the otherside of the mutton pieces gets done for another 12-15 mins.
Grill till the pieces are lightly coloured.
3.Serve it hot with Veg Sald,lemon wedges and green chutney.
