Samosa is a well known evening snack item in India.It can be told as 'Refined flour fried Dumplings'.This Samosa is done - stuffing sprouted Moongdal masala inside(instead of the normal greenpeas-potato masala).Sprouted Moongdal can be an added nutritive supplement to the growing kids if done appetizingly as a good teatime snack or included in daily meal.U can add a handful of chopped Spinach in step 3 and do this masala.This serves 4 nos.U can make 6-7 Samosas with this measurement.This masala can be used as sidedish for steamed rice with Dhal fry or Rasam and Curd.Enjoy Cooking at home.Enjoy Ur teatime.Bon Appetit!.
Sprouted Moongdal Samosa
Ingredients
1 cup Maida or Refined Flour
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp butter(optional)
lukewarm water
1/4 tsp baking powder
300 ml refined oil
For the Stuffing Masala:
100 gm sprouted green moongdal - cleaned and soaked for 15 mins
1/4 tsp chilli powder
a pinch of turmeric powder
1/2 ginger- garlic paste
1/2 tsp saunf seeds
1/2 tsp garam masala
few coriander leaves
1/4 tsp salt
2 tsp refined oil
50 ml water
Directions
1.Heat 2 tsp oil adding mustard seeds,saunf seeds,chopped onions,ginger garlic paste,coriander leaves in a
microwave-safe bowl for 2 mins on high and take it out when done,mix and M/W this on high for a min more.
2.Add soaked sprouted moongdal,garam masala,chilli powder and turmeric powder(or subji masala) and salt.Mix this with sprouted green moongdal.Microwave this on high with 50 ml water for 3-4 mins.
3.Now,add the chopped coriander leaves and M/W for a min more or till it becomes dry.Keep this aside.
4.Mix the flour with salt,butter and lukewarm water.
5.Spread the flour to the size of small puri and stuff 2 tsp sprouted moongdal masala and fold it to the size of
triangle and seal the edges.Do 5-6 more Samosa spreads and stuff the Masala inside.
6.Heat oil in a kadai and deep-fry till both sides are done little brown - for atleast 4-5 mins on medium flame.
Note:
If U Use less than 400 ml oil for deep frying, this Samosa,it may fold awkwardly while being deep-fried.U can deep-fry it one by one also.
