Chilla is a North Indian Pancake mainly done with besanflour. More or less the same or a South Indian Pancake is done with soaked Gramdal is called Adai. Chilla is also known as ' Vegetarian Omelette' since it tastes and looks-like the same . I tried this Chilla adding Oats and found it tasty n healthy. Here is that 'instant Oats Adai' recipe for U to try at home. Some do it adding Onion and tomato. U can add chopped spinach to make it even healthier.It can be served as Breakfast/Dinner or a snack recipe.Serve it with Green Chutney and tomato Ketchup. Enjoy Easy n instant Breakfast at home!. Oats Chilla( Besan Flour Pancake)
Ingredients:
1 cup oats - Soaked in 400 ml water
1 cup besan flour(Kadalai Mavu)
1 tbsp Rice flour
1 medium sized Onion - finely chopped
1/4 tsp crushed garlic + ginger
1 small sized tomato -finely chopped(optional)
a pinch of asafoetida
1/4 tsp red chilli powder
5-6 peppercorns - crushed
a pinch of crushed cumin seeds
1 tbsp chopped coriander and curry leaves/each
2 tbsp refined oil mixed with 1 tsp ghee
1/3 tsp Salt to taste
Method:
1.Prepare the batter by mixing the Besan flour and rice flour in Soaked Oats mixture slowly so that no lump shd form.Add asafoetida,red chilli powder,crushed garlic and ginger,crushed cumin seeds and peppercorns with salt.Mix it well.
2.Now add chopped onions,tomato,coriander leaves and curry leaves*optional) to the Oats batter. Mix it well to make it a thick batter.If it is too thick, then add 50 - 100 ml water.
3..Heat a non-stick tawa or Dosa kal and apply a tsp oil on the surface. Now do Dosa like pancakes using the batter.Drizzle a spoon of oil on it and around the edges.Flip it and cook the other side when done.
4.Serve it hot with Green Mint or Coriander Chutney and tomato ketchup.
