Sprouted Green Mungdal Sambar

Sambar is a South-Indian Lentil Speciality Curry -served  as an accompaniment to the Main Dish Steamed Rice or Indian Breads.It can be done in Varieties using different types of Lentils like Turdal,Yellow Mungdal and Sprouted Green Mungdal or other lentils like butterbeans and Karamani(White cow beans) or Thattai Payar(Red Cow beans) etc...Here is a simple and easy to do recipe of Sprouted Mungdal Sambar is given as Healthy recipe of the Day to try at home.This is the quickest ever Sambar - done in 12 -13 mins.Try not to over-cook the Mungdal .This serves 4 nos.Enjoy Easy Cooking at home.Enjoy ur meal!.Bon Appetit!.

Sprouted Green Mungdal Sambar - Tasty Lentil Curry done with Green Mungdal
Ingredients:
100 gms Sprouted Green Mungdal(in 1 Pkt) - cleaned and soaked for 15 mins
1 onion - sliced fine
1 small tomato-chopped
1 tsp home-made  Sambar Powder or Ready-made
a pinch turmeric powder
1/4 tsp asafoetida powder
2 green chillies-slit legthwise
1 tsp salt or salt to taste
1 tsp grated coconut
1 tsp coconut oil or ghee
1 tbsp lemon juice

For the Seasoning:
3 whole red chillies
few curry leaves and coriander leaves
3 small onions-peeled and finely chopped
1/2 tsp mustard seeds
2 tsp refined oil

Directions:
1.Take a pressure pan,add cleaned and soaked Green Mungdal,2 green chillies,Onion slices,turmeric powder and few coriander leaves.
2.Measure 100 ml water and add it to the pressure-pan.Mix them well and pressure-cook upto 1 whistle or for 5-6 mins.Keep it aside for 10 mins for the pressure to be released
3.Take another kadai,add 2 tsp refined oil,mustard seeds,Chopped small onions,whole red chillies (optional) and curry leaves.Saute it for 2-3 mins and add asafoetida powder and home-made sambar powder and saute it for a min or 2.
4.Add the pressure-cooked(done) Green Mungdal,200 ml water and check for salt.
5.Add 1 tsp grated coconut and close the kadai with a lid and let it simmer for 4 mins till oil begins to float on top - keeping the flame on medium.Sprinkle lemon juice on top and mix well.Turn off the flame.
6.Add a dash of ghee or coconut oil on top and garnish with coriander leaves.
7.This  Sprouted Greenmungdal Sambar is ready to be served with Steamed rice or Bread slices or Indian Breads at any time.
