Very tasty and traditional tea-time snack of Tamil Nadu or the taste of South India.Instead of maida,you can also use wheat,Ragi,Rice,Besan or Gram flour etc. Store it in an Airtight container - it can stay good for a week.Enjoy ur Teatime!.BonAppetit!
Maida Ghee Murukku - Murukku made using maida flour with ghee
Ingredients
2 cups maida or refined flour
2 tbsp finely-powdered urad dhal
1 tbsp cumin seeds
1 tbsp white sesame seeds
1/2 tspp or needed salt
60 ml ghee
Needed warm water
400 ml refined oil for frying
Directions
1.Sift it once.Steam cook little water sprinkled maida flour with needed salt(prepare the Maida flour like U do for steamed puttu) for 5 mins or upto 1 whistle.Let it cool.
2.Mix the steam-cooked maida,powdered urad dhal,ghee, cumin seeds,needed salt with warm water into a thick dough.
3.Heat oil in a non-stick kadai and take lemon sized dough and put them in the muruku mould (Star Shaped Murukku Plate ) and press or squeeze it .Deep fry them till golden brown.
4.Do murukku also using the same Murukku apparatus(which looks like stringhoppers apparatus) and deep fry them till golden brown.
5.Tasty Maida Murukku is ready to be served.
